Golf in Killarney and Kerry

There is a wonderful selection of Parkland and Links Courses within an easy drive of Killarney. The local Killarney Golf & Fishing Club on the shores of Loch Léin, has hosted the The Irish Open Golf Championship on four occasions.

Killarney Golf Club

This parkland course located on the shores of Loch Léin comprises two 18-hole championship courses and one 9-hole course. 4-time home to the Irish Open Golf Championship, the course affords the golfer spectacular views of the Killarney mountains.

Beaufort Golf Club

Another parkland course, Beaufort is part of the Churchtown Estate, and shares its surrounds with the 15th century Castle Corr. The 18-hole course has been redeveloped to the highest of standards by world renowned golf architects McKenzie and Ebert.

Tralee Golf Club

This links course was instituted in 1896 and opened its present Arnold Palmer-designed course at Barrow, Tralee in 1984.

“I may have designed the first nine, but surely God designed the back nine”.
Arnold Palmer, Tralee Golf course designer.

Waterville Golf Club

An 18-hole links course, Waterville is another classic and not to be missed on your golfing tour of Kerry. Designed by Ireland’s pre-eminent golf architect, Eddie Hackett, Waterville has achieved status as ‘one of the best’ in only 25 years.

Ballybunion Golf Club

Known worldwide, Ballybunion comprises two 18-hole links courses, the Old Course (1893) and the Cashen Course (1984). World-renowned, these are true seaside links courses, are virtually treeless with sharp contours throughout.

Ring of Kerry Golf Club

This parkland course boasts panoramic views across Kenmare Bay from every hole. The architectural brief to Eddie Hackett and Ron Kirby was to design a ‘world class’ golf course that would challenge competent and experienced players from the back tees yet be playable and enjoyable for the average handicap player from middle and forward teeing areas.

Ceann Sibéal Golf Links

The only 18-hole links course on the Dingle Peninsula, Ceann Sibéal Golf Course is 10km from Dingle town. To the east is Mount Brandon and out to the west the Blasket Islands. This must be one of the most picturesque courses in Ireland.

Testimonials

“My sister and I stayed at Friars Glen in March for two nights and wished we could have stayed longer!! Mary was such a welcoming host and immediately made us feel at home. She recommended an amazing hike in Killarney National Park right down the road- it was beautiful!! Our room was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a terrific night of sleep. Mary and her team take such great pride in the whole property and keep it spotless. We had a delicious breakfast with homemade scones and a yummy traditional Irish breakfast! Our stay at Friars Glen was truly a highlight of the trip-don’t pass it up. We can’t wait to return soon!”
